What's new in Lorne this summer?

Everyone is pretty excited that we will have some new eating options this summer. In addition, to the well-established Marks that serves modern Australian food and the not so new now Ipsos that has received one hat in 2018 for its modern interpretation Greek food, MoVida Lorne is opening. The Lorne Hotel has recently undertaken a large renovation that now includes a new MoVida restaurant (part of the MoVida Group of restaurants) and Wine Bar.

LORNE Waterfalls

Lower Kalimna Falls is one of our favourite waterfalls to visit. Drive out Allenvale Rd & leave the car at Sheoak Picnic Area.

The walk is about 1 HOUR to Lower Kalimna Falls and there are some gentle inclines so some level of fitness is required. The track also has some obstacles and can be muddy and slippery in winter or just after rain. The scenery is beautiful surrounding the track and you can sometimes see some of the local wildlife.

Below the falls is a naturally carved out rock canopy allowing you to walk under and behind the waterfall itself. It is such a beautiful and relaxing spot. Best time to walk is just after it has rained so that you experience the smell of the forest on the way there.

Take plenty of water, a picnic perhaps, good walking shoes and an umbrella. There are BBQ and picnic facilities located in the carpark area along with toilets if you want to stay awhile. Drinking water is not available and no bins are provided so rubbish needs to be taken home with you.

About Us

Sue and Laurel are both retired nurses who made the seachange from Melbourne to Lorne in 2007. They had been holidaying in Lorne for decades. Before they moved permanently they used to rent their own beach house. One day their neighbours asked them if they could manage their place. Pretty soon they had a collection of properties from budget to luxury catering for 2 and up to 10 guests.

Lorne Collection is a locally run small business currently managing 10 properties in Victoria's popular seaside town of Lorne.

We offer our guests a home away from home whilst exploring the Great Ocean Road, the largest war memorial in the world. Each property is unique and loved by its owners.

If you want to get in touch with Sue or Laurel they can help you find the best option to suit your family & budget
